Word Press goes from the ridiculous to the sublime. Pile of puppies and third arms to a great question we all need to consider. When is killing acceptable? We of necessity must kill in order to survive. We need to kill plants by harvesting them for food and the same for animals, though many people draw the line there are refuse to kill animals for food. I must admit that I struggle with this concept. I want to go vegetarian but I’ve been a carnivore for so long that it’s hard. But I try to eat as little meat as possible.
Killing animals bothers me. But there are also times when an animal becomes so dangerous that it must be killed to protect others. That is a sad situation because many times it’s not really the animal’s fault that it is aggressive. But killing for sport–hunting–is just wrong, in my opinion.
I even have a problem with killing insects, but so many of them are dangerous to people and animals. So they need to be done away with. Fire ants, fleas, mosquitoes all fall into this category.
When it comes to the death penalty, I am completely against it. No one has the right to take a human life unless their own life is threatened, such as in war. Even war is iffy, given the weapons we use to kill people from afar and then kill innocent people.
Killing is just not right, but sometimes is necessary.
What a HUGE moral question to wrestle with! Well done, young lady!
I suppose I should shy away from this discussion, but you know me…I can’t! I disagree on one level. Pedophiles should be handed down punishment from the parents themselves…however heinous it may be…and always should be followed by death.
