My Passion

What is your secret (or not-so-secret) passion?

My secret passion is for anything to do with Egyptology. I began this passion when I was about 10 or 11 years old when I received a book for Christmas. The book was called “All About Archaeology.” It had a photo on the cover of the famous golden mask of King Tut. I loved the subject of archaeology but more than that I was hooked on Egyptology. Over the years I have read almost every book I could find on the subject of archaeology in Egypt and the history of ancient Egypt. I have become fairly knowledgable about the subject of Egyptology. I have also enjoyed reading novels about archaeology in Egypt, especially the Amelia Peabody Emerson series by Elizabeth Peters. I also enjoy the P. C. Doherty series of mysteries set in ancient Egypt. My dream is to one day vist Egypt and to see the sites I have studied so much in books and magazines and watched on television shows. This is my passion.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
