Discussion on fasting in religious traditions
We have an inter-faith discussion group today on fasting in our religious traditions since Ramadan starts next week. It’s good to look at how we all view fasting and how fasting shapes our religious experiences. Fasting is a very important aspect of the Muslim faith in Ramadan. It connects us to those who don’t have enough to eat. It makes us appreciate the food we do have. Fasting makes us focus on other aspects of life, such as prayer and reading the Qur’an. I’m sure I will learn more today at the discussion with those of other faiths today.

About mairedubhtx
I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
Inter-faith discussions are vital if we are to understand and respect each other. Enjoy.
