No, they didn’t; Yes, they did; No; Yes

The entire day yesterday was spent–literally from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.–was spent either on the phone with Time Warner  trying them to get someone back here to fix the modem or having someone here trying to fix it. After the first guy was here and I posted, when I tried to go on to other sites, I lost the Internet. So I called and he came back about 2:00 and swapped out the modem and went on his way. I filled out a survey online and tried to go onto another sight. No Internet. So I called Time Warner and explained what happened and they said they would get back to me. Two hours later I called gain and they said to call in an hour it I hadn’t heard from the technician. Two hours later I called again, not having heard from the technician; he said he would call the supervisor are try to get someone out. I tried several times to deal with it on my own, but needed information from my ISP, so I called again. I got cut off twice when I was trying to do it myself and accidentlally hit the power switch. I was on the phone trying to get to another representative when a tech shown up at the door and he fixed it within a matter of minutes. Apparently he was a supervisor and knoew what he was doing and looking for. Something to do with the white button having been puched accidentally on the modem. This router now seems to be working fine–at least for some hours–and I have Internet service. It was a day of trying to stay calm and not get bitchy on the phone, so at least the last few times on the phone, I warned people I was hysterical because I needed the computer for school (true, but not for a couple weeks). Bless you, tech, who showed up at 7:30 p.m. on a cold, rainy night. I could have kissed him.

I di start my assignments from Brenda last night. I packed up the Purple Ladies for the girls and well try to go through the unicorns today and packe them up for the girls. I will ask Sabrina if she wants my china and crystal, and if she doesn’t, I will try to sell them on EBay; also the silverpieces  that she doesn’t want, I know. If I can’t firgure out EBay, I would give them to Good Will to sell. I would lose money, but they would be gone. I tried to call the Medina Children’s Home but they were closed by the time I called, so I will call on Monday for them to take the TV that works and maybe to take the TV and CD player that don’t work. Since the big TV works, Medina will take it, I know. Maybe they know of someone who would want to take the old TV and CD player and fix them.

So I at least made a start in the housecleaning business. Now I have to go to Home Depot and get boxes and supplies, and call HEB to see if they will save me some big banana boxes for sorting. If not, there is the Home Depot to fall back on. But I feel good that I’ve at least started to do my “homework.” I have to talk to the cleaning people and have them come and take the bags and boxes away. I’ll call them on Monday, too, as well as HEB. Maybe I can get Sabrina to go to Home Depot with me, but if I know her, probably not. She dislikes shopping as much as I do. But maybe she would to help me get things cleaned up. I can always hope.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
