If I were stranded on a desert island and could have one music album with me, what would it be and why does this music never grow old to you. That is a difficult question to answer. I enjoy so many types of music and have a collection of favorite albums that I play regularly and never seem to tire of hearing. My favorite artists include Enya, U2, Sínead O’Connor, a group called Nowell Sing We Clear who play medieval Christmas and winter music, Enrique Iglesias, Green Day, Loreena McKennitt, Taylor Swift, the brothers of Taizé, and so many more. But if I had to choose just one album of music to bring with me, it was have to be Enya’s A Day Without Rain.
This album contains so many of my favorite Enya music. Sung in English, Irish, Latin, and with some instrumental tracks, it never ceases to disappointment me when I put it on to listen to it. It calms me and takes me away to a land where there are no pressures or confrontations, even though some of the songs speak to disappointments and conflict. I gives me hope that we will all some day be able to live in harmony and peace. I could (and have) listened to this album for hours on end. It helps me to escape the day’s worries and meditate and bring me to peace.
On a deserted island, I would love to have the company of this beautiful music. God bless you, Enya, for your gift to us.
