Ralphie, a 10 month old Japanese Chine, red sable, has come to live with us. He was rather curious about everything yesterday, but last night went very well. He had a couple accidents, I think from being excited, ysterday, but went to bed last night and slept on the bed with Ernie and me all night. Ernie is sort of ignoring him; he doesn’t know quite what to make of him. He’s never had another dog in the house before. But Ralphie is having fun chewing on a rawhide bone and yesterday ate a chicken-flavored bone that Ernie had turned his nose up at a while ago.
Ralphie is a chewer. He licked and gnawed on my hand this morning while we were lying in bed. Maybe that’s why he likes the little rawhide bones so much. He wasn’t excited about going out, but I think he will like to go out better today. I may take the boys out separately for awhile until I get a new leash for Ralphie and they get used to each other.
Ernie hasn’t been the least bit aggressive toward Ralphie. They even had a joint “Woo-ooo” session last night when the kids were playing outside. It was funny to hear them both barking. Ralphie had no idea why he was barking; he was just barking because Ernie was, and Ernie is top dog.
Ralphie sees to like the Beneful food I got for them. He’s been snacking and Ernie has, too. So farm they seem to be getting along just fine. Much better than I had anticipated. Thank you, God, for bringing sweet little Ralphie to us. It looks like this will be his “furever” home.
