Keeping Fit

Ahhhh. If only flipping pages of a book or hitting “next page” on the Kindle would be good forms of exercise. I read. I don’t just read. I READ! It is my life, outside writing. It defines my live. My mornings are not complete until I have read all the Religion Dispatches articles (good thing I get up very early). I usually have three or four books going at once. I belong to a book discussion group but have missed the last couple meetings, but reading is about reading more than discussing the books for me.

I read almost anything I get my hands on. I have even been know to read Sports Illustrated in the doctor’s office (before I got my Kindle). Speaking of Kindles, I am now on my second and it may be time to replace it soon. It is the one piece of technology that I absolutely adore. I have so many necessary books at my fingertips, all in one place. It is an amazing piece of technology, even the older ones. For those who love to read, it is absolutely essential. I have the Qur’an, the Bible, games, a zillion books, my textbooks, absolutely everything on there. It is so easy to switch amongst the books I am reading. I adore my Kindle.

So if there were one thing I could do that would help burn calories and keep me fit, it would be reading. Turning pages and pushing “Next Page” must burn some calories, right?

I don’t want you to think that I do nothing to keep fit. I do walk the dogs. That’s something. Granted, it’s not long walks because thew dogs are as committed to sitting on the couch as I am. But it is something physical.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
