Talent is a funny thing. You either have a talent for something or you don’t. You can develop a talent, but if the basis of the talent is not there, you can’t make it happen.
I have a talent for several things. One is making mosaics. I discovered this talent several years ago when I took a class in making mosaics. I found that I absolutely loved doing mosaic work and I seemed to have a talent for it. Indeed, it is one of the loves of my life. I took to it like a duck to water. I’ve gone on to practice doing mosaics after the class and found that I love all the different forms of mosaics and how they are constructed.
During another class, one involving dyeing fabric and stamping the fabric with carved designs for stamps, that I have a talent for carving these stamps and also for dyeing fabric using different methods and techniques. I quite enjoy fabric art and want to explore this more in depth, such as painting on fabric and using different techniques to create patterns on the cloth.
I talent that I wish I had is singing. I can carry a tune and sing fairly decently, but I wish that I could sing well. I love the sound of the human voice making music and wish that I could truly sing as much as I love it.
Another talent I wish I had is playing the piano. I took piano lessons when I was a child for 9 years, and although I took lessons and enjoyed playing, I did not have a talent for playing the piano. This is what I mean when I say that you have to be born with the basic talent within you and then nurture that talent. I tried to develop a talent for playing the piano but it was just something I was not born with, even though I love playing the piano.
What your talent it, be sure to nurture it and let it grow into a beautiful thing.
