Five Question Friday

1. How close to your childhood dreams is your life now?
I thought I would be a teacher. Instead I was a caseworker and then worked in educational testing. I hoped to have a happy marriage but my two marriages did not work out. I am now working with children as a CASA volunteer and a tutor, so the tutoring is pretty close to teaching.

2. What is one must have item for the summer?
A great pair of sandals

3. Do you have your kids stay up on school stuff during summer vacation? (Or, if you don’t have kiddos, did your parents make you keep up on school stuff during summer?)
When my daughter was growing up, we read a lot and she did have to do some summer school work. My parents just encouraged us to read, not necessarily keep up with school work.

4. Do you can or freeze fresh produce?
I don’t have a garden so no, I don’t. But when I was growing up, my mother canned all our vegetables from our garden.

5. Do you get ready for the day first thing in the morning?
As soon as I shower and say my morning prayers, I get ready for the day, starting by reading my email. I get up around 5 a.m. for prayers.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
