Weekends

Make an argument for why weekends should be longer.

In the United States, workers work longer hours in general than folks in other countries. They work either late (or early) at the office or take work home with them. The weekends we have now (2 days) are not really weekend since a great number of people are working on their weekends. Americans are overworked and are burning out. Something has to be done to stop this burned, outworked situation. Americans would be more productive if they were guaranteed of some time off. Workers should at least have their two day weekends with no working and ideally a three-day weekend with longer work hours during the work days.

Americans would be more productive if they worked during work hours and had time to refresh themselves during weekend. Longer work days would help offset the time off that people have to refresh and renew themselves. Therefore, workers should have a full three days for a weekend and have longer work hours during the other four work days.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
