Love

What does love mean to you?

Love is so complicated. It is a combination of affection, loyalty, respect, honor, empathy, and so much more. Love makes a person care about another human being. Platonic or sexual, love is all-encompassing. We want to be with the beloved and care for him or her. Love involves loyalty and trust. Love doesn’t necessarily accept everything the beloved does, but tries to understand him or her. Love is patient and kind. Love perseveres. Love doesn’t try to “one up” the beloved, but makes an effort to accept the beloved as he or she is. Love isn’t jealous. Love is trusting and respectful of the beloved. These characteristics apply to both platonic and sexual love. Love is very special.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
