The Pep Rally

Holmes High School, where my granddaughters are students and are on the Pep Squad, is playing Stevens High School tomorrow night in the Thursday Night’s Lights Football Game. This is a big thing here in San Antonio. It is televised and even the pep rallies are televised. Today was Holmes’ pep rally and it was televised on the morning news show. It also happened to be the coldest day of the year since last spring, in the 40s. I usually watch that particular news station and so I tuned in to see my granddaughters in the Pep Squad at the pep rally. They were bundled up warmly in their sweatshirts and long black pants. I’m sure it was still very cold because they held the pep rally in the outside courtyard of the school with the band, the drum line, the mariachi band, the dance team, and the cheerleaders. Oh, and also the football team. This is an exciting year for them because their football team is actually doing well this year, unlike previous years when they were pretty much sure to lose. They have actually beat decent schools this year. So I was one proud grandmother this morning watching my two beautiful granddaughters waving their pompoms and dancing and cheering for their beloved Huskies at their pep rally. Go Huskies!

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
