Favorite Places

Describe a favorite place.

One of my favorite places is Port Aransas Beach and Mustang Island on the barrier islands of the Texas seacoast. I love it there because when I go there, usually in the fall, it is nearly deserted and calm and peacefully. The beach is clean and absent of most people, so you are not bothered by people playing music or volleyball or throwing frisbees. I can just read and walk on the beach for miles and not be bothered by anyone. There is also a place where one can rent horses to go horseback riding on the beach farther down the beach. I love that. The horses running through the surf is an amazing feeling. The salt air is a wonderful smell on the beach. It is fresh and clean, and there is nothing like it in the world. Port Aransas Beach is a wonderful spot to go for a long or a mini vacation, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
