The Most Important Gift

What was the most important gift you ever received?

One Christmas, my daughter gave me the gift of a piece of land in Ireland. For a certain amount of money she bought a square foot (or meter) of land in Ireland which I own. It was important because it showed me that she recognized how important my Irish heritage is to me. She has heard me talk about my Irish heritage all her life but this special and unique gift showed that she understood how much Ireland and my heritage means to me. I was truly touched by her thoughtfulness and the uniqueness of her gift. It was as important to me as my engagement ring that her father gave me for Christmas when we were in college. Truth to tell.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
