Update on Book and Film Challenge–1/9/2012

I have finished my second book of the 50 books for the year. It was called One Virgin Too Many by Lindsey Davis. It was another Marcos Didius Falco mystery. This one was about a missing six-year old girl who was the front-runner in the lottery to be chosen as the next Vestal Virgin. Falco is sent to try to find the missing girl and somehow gets himself into the House of the Vestal Virgins (a big no-no) but manages to get let go from that transgression and rescue the child who is found in a very dangerous situation. Along the way, Falco discovers that his wife Helena has bought them a house that needs renovating and the building of a bath house by two contractors who never seem to show up ( of course). It’s a great suspense novel because the missing girl’s family is quite a quirky religious family and there is a murder involved (of course), and Falco grows closer to his other brother-in-law Aulus as the story progresses. It’s a good read. Two down, 48 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
