Book and Film Challenge Update

I have my first film update! I went with the granddaughters to see Sherlock Holmes: A Games of Shadows on Sunday. It was a good movie and we all really enjoyed it, particularly Jackie who had been sick all week and was glad to get out of the house. I especially liked the cinematography and the way the movie was filmed; it was very interesting and clever. Robert Downey Jr. was excellent as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law was splendid as Watson. The plot was a bit complicated at times but I could keep up. It was fast-paced, that’s for sure. One down, 24 to go.

I also finished another book, The Jupiter Myth, by Lindsey Davis, another of the Marcus Didius Falco mysteries. This book is also set in Britain as it follows A Body in the Bath House and take up where the previous book left off except the action moves to Londinium. Characters introduced previously pop in. Gangsters from Rome have moved into take over rackets in Britain and Falco is on the hunt for them. The title comes from the fact that the gangsters have names their establishments afters myths involving Jupiter and there are plenty of them. Tragedy befalls Falco’s long time friend Petronius in this book and it is heartbreaking. It is one of the saddest books in the series. Five down, 45 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
