A-Z Challenge; H is for Heaven

A to Z Challenge; H is for Heaven

I have been thinking about heaven a lot lately since I have had two deaths of people close to me in the past two months. I am Muslim and the Qur’an tells us that if we are good people who are good to the poor, say our prayers, avoid idol worship, we will go to heaven. In the Qur’an, heaven is described as a beautiful place. A Garden of Bliss with rivers flowing beneath it. The people of heaven will wear silk robes and recline on couches and cushions of brocade. They will be served delicious drinks and food by young servants and be neither hot nor cold. Fruit trees will be within their reach. They will be happy forever. It sounds like a pretty nice place and I’m glad that my uncle and friend are there now after their illnesses. It makes me want to be a good person and do what I should so that one day I’ll be in the Garden of Bliss. It is much better than the alternative.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
