A-Z Challenge; O is for Orchids

A to Z Challenge; O is for Orchids

I love orchids. I love the variety of orchids. I admire people who can grow orchids because they are notoriously difficult to cultivate. I have read a lot about the different kinds of orchids and they are just amazing to me. They all look so different from one another and have different growing requirements. I am in awe of them.

My love affair with orchids began when I was seventeen years old and was going to the senior prom at the local public high school. I was wearing a white strapless dress and my date bought me a wrist corsage that was a gorgeous black orchid. It was the perfect compliment to my ensemble, but more importantly it was one of the most beautiful flowers I had ever seen in my entire life. That black orchid started my love affair with orchids of all types. I started to learn about them after that and began to really appreciate them. They are truly amazing flowers. They are my favorite flowers.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
