Book and Film Challenge Update

Yesterday I saw my fourth film in this challenge. I took my granddaughters to see Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. It was an outstanding movie. I had read the book and thought that it was one of the best books that I had ever read. The book really moved me and the movie, although quite a bit different, was equally moving. Both my granddaughter were sobbing hysterically through the last part of the movie, but they loved it. For those who don’t know about it, this is the story of a young boy who has lost his father in the September 11 tragedy. His father had always set puzzles for him to figure out and the boy finds a key in his father’s closet in an envelope with the name “Black” on it. That is his only clue. So he sets out to find out the meaning of the key and in doing so, keep the memory of his father alive. Sandra Bullock plays the boy’s mother, and Tom Hanks plays the father in flashbacks. It is a fabulous and touching movie and was rightly nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Four down, 21 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
