Book and Film Challenge Update

I have finished the 35th book in the challenge. It is Hiss of Death: A Mrs. Murphy Mystery by Rita Mae Brown. For those of you not familiar with the Mrs. Murphy series, Mrs. Murphy is a tabby cat, who with her companions Pewter, a large gray cat, and Tucker, a Welsh corgi, help their “mother” Harry (Mary Minor) Haristeen solve murder mysteries. And in the book we “hear” the animals’ conversations which are printed in italics. In this book, Harry discovers she has breast cancer and her treatment is a them running through the book as it is set at a hospital in the Charlollettesville, VA area. An operating room nurse from the hospital is found dead, apparently from a hornet sting. Then the drug rehabilitation counselor is found murdered, her throat slit. Then the leading oncology surgeon is electrocuted in his new electric car. These can’t be coincidences and Harry knows it. Harry finds yellow canisters that are usually used to ship horse semen in the home of the operating room nurse and in thr back seat of the oncology surgeon’s car. What can they have been used for? Harry knows that when she finds out, she’ll have solved the mystery and probably have solved the murder. But then the murderer will be after her! And it will be up to the animals to save their mom! Thirty-five down, 65 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
