Book and Film Challenge Update

The 37th book I read for the challenge was The September Society (A Charles Lenox Mystery) by Charles Finch. The detective Charles Lenox is drawn into another mystery with the disappearance of a young Oxford student, George Payson. In his investigations, the name of the September Society, a small society of soldiers who found for only a few years in India, keeps entering into the picture. Since this time period was 20 years previously, Lenox is baffled as to what this very secretive society can have to do with Payson’s disappearance and subsequent death. In the midst of this investigation, Charles realizes that he is in love with Lady Jane Grey, his next door neighbor whom he has known from childhood and he knows he wants to marry her. But how and when to ask her? There is so much going on. Toto and McConnell are pregnant and that is a great happiness, but taking up much of Lady Jane’s time with Toto. So Charles is a very busy person in this book. Thirty-seven down, 63 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
