Book and Film Challenge Update

Book 47 that i read for this challenge was A Rule Against Murder: A Chief Inspector Gamache Mystery by Louise Penny. In this book, Gamache and his wife Reine-Marie are vacationing at Manoir Bellechasse in the woods of Québec to celebrate their anniversary. While they are there, another family is also there to celebrate a family reunion: the elderly parents, a son and his wife, a daughter and her child, and another daughter. They are waiting for another son and his wife. Imagine Gamache’s surprise when he discovers that the son is Peter and his wife Clara Morrow from Three Pines. This is an extremely dysfunctional family, and each family member dislikes the other. The mother has remarried after the death of her first husband, the father of the children and is placing a statue of their father in the garden of Manoir Bellechasse. The statue is placed and then a violent storm blows through the area. The next day, the daughter Julia is found dead, with the statue lying on top of her. Was it an accident or murder? The coroner says it was murder from the evidence she has found. Who could have moved the massive statue off its pedestal and murdered Julia and why? Gamache’s vacation is interrupted as he must take charge of the investigation with his team and Reine-Marie goes off to Three Pines to wait while he does his work. Was the murderer one of Julia’s family members or one of Manoir Bellechasse’s staff? Gamache must find out before the killer strikes again. Forty-seven down, 53 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
