Book and Film Challenge Review

Book 52 was one of the strangest books I have read. I read it for a book group discussion for next weekend and I look forward to that discussion since this was a weird book. It was A Visit From The Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan. The book seems to revolve around the lives of people who have some connection to two people in the music industry, Bennie and Sasha, whom we meet in the first chapter. From there, the book flashes back and forth to other character in time who have some relationship, however slim, to Bennie and Sasha. The book does not follow a chronological order and Sasha and Bennie’s past lives also pop up in the chapters. The last chapter pulls the book together in a strange sort of way. I will be very interested in hearing what others have to say about this book. Fifty-two down, 48 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
