Book and Film Challenge Update

The eleventh film I saw this year was Dark Shadows, a Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins. It was a lovely dark comedy and a typical Tim Burton film. Not an uproaringly funny comedy by, entertaining nonetheless. Johnny Depp was superb as usual and Michelle Pfieffer was excellent in her role as the Collins’ family present day matriarch. Helena Bonham Carter was also fine in her role as the psychiatrist, a campy role for her, as this story is set in 1972 so there is a lot of room for campiness and Burton makes the most of it. This was a very enjoyable film. It will win no Academy awards but it’s a good time.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
