Book and Film Challenge Update

The 67th book that I read for the challenge was Assassins of Athens by Jeffrey Siger. Andreas Kaldis, the new Chief of the Special Criminal Division, GADA, in Athens must solved the murder mystery of a young teenager from a wealthy Athenian family whose body was found in a dumpster behind a gay bar. As Andreas investigates, he is aided in his investigations by an unlikely source–a member of Athenian society, Lila Vardi, a patroness of the museums and highly regarded socialite. They discover that several noveau riche Athenian families, who have foreign roots, have been “ostracized” using the ancient Athenian method of being sent their names on a piece of broken pottery and having ten days to leave the city. This has been organized by the elite of old Athenian society to keep the elite society “pure.” Andreas and his team work to gather enough information to trap these elite Athenians and Lila inserts herself into the investigation and into danger–and into Andreas’ heart. Sixty-seven down, 33 to go.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
