Daily Prompt–Stroke of Midnight

Where were you last night when 2012 turned into 2013? Is that where you’d wanted to be?

I am so boring. I should get a life. Just before midnight, I took the dog out for a walk. I was a little worried that he would be spooked by all the fireworks going off in the neighborhood but I have the most laid-back dog in the world and Ernie didn’t even notice what was happening in the neighborhood. (But let someone knock on the neighbor’s door and he goes crazy; go figure.)

So at midnight, I was sitting on my bed watching the countdown and then watching the fireworks from the Tower of the Americas in downtown San Antonio on Channel 4. Is this where I wanted to be? I would rather have been with some hunky guy downtown watching the fireworks live and kissing as the New Year came in, but that was not an option since I don’t know any hunky guys with whom I could watch the fireworks. So given my options, I was right where I should have been. At least I was awake and got to see the fireworks. Last year I went to bed early and missed them. So I count this as an improvement over last year. Lame, I know. But it’s my life.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.
