Daily Prompt–Unleash Your Inner Dickinson

I decided to write an ode to my puppies, my two sweet Japanese Chin dogs who are my constant companions.

Japanese Chin Dog Breed Pictures 01

japanese_chin_newODE TO ERNIE AND RALPHY

Sleeping princes, lounging quietly

What are your dreams?

Do you dream of grassy lawns, of leafy walks?

Of singing birds? Of chattering squirrels?

Of yapping dogs? Of meowing cats?

Or do you dream of special treats

Of chicken pieces, of greenies, of bones

Of toys to play with?

Of what do you dream?

Or do you merely sleep

And rest to rise again

To play once more.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.

  1. Dogs are so precious. I always wonder what my schnauzer is dreaming about when she makes little woof sounds and twitches her legs in her sleep. Is she chasing a squirrel, guarding us from the evil UPS delivery guy?

  2. The Hook says:

    Well done. Adorable shots!
