You encounter a mysterious man offering you a magic potion that, once sipped, will make one of your senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch) super sharp — but dull the others. Will you sip it, and if so, what sense do you choose?

Given a choice, I probably would NOT sip this potion. I value all my senses. I would not want any of them dulled. I already have a problem with my vision being poor (I wear glasses) and so I am aware that my vision is very precious to me. I value my hearing and my sense of smell, which is related to taste, and I also value my sensation of touch. They are all important.
Vision is very important. You need to be able to see clearly in this world. I love to read and value being able to see the words on the page. I love to be able to see the faces of my daughter and granddaughters. I love to see the beautiful trees and flowers. I love watching my puppies. I love being able to drive my car. I need vision to do these things.
Keen hearing is essential in my world. I like to listen to the news at night on the television. I need hearing when I drive the car. I love to hear the voices of my loved ones. I loved the barks and whimpers of my dogs. I need to hear the rulings of the judge in court. I need to listen to my CASA kids and my advocates. I need to be able to hear well.
My sense of smell and taste are important. They go hand-in-hand. Food doesn’t taste good if you can’t smell it, too. You need to smell and taste your food to have a good appetite. You need these to maintain a decent weight. I have trouble keeping a proper weight. So I need to have my sense of smell and taste sharp.
The sensation of touch is also important. I love to pet my dogs. They are so soft and furry. They feel so good. I would miss the feel of them. I love the feel of my sheets at night. I would miss them. I love the feel of clean hair and clean skin. Tactile sensation is important, too.
To have one of these senses heightened and the other dulled would be a tragedy. That’s why I would NOT sip the potion. I would not want my senses dulled. I want my senses as alive as they can be.
