Plan the ultimate celebration for the person you’re closest to, and tell us about it. Where is it? Who’s there? What’s served? What happens?
Following along from yesterday’s post, Four Stars, I would have to plan a post-Oscar party for my daughter S. I would plan a celebration of her life. It’s not a special birthday but a celebration of who she is and what she has accomplished in her life.
To celebrate her life, I would rent out the resort she goes to on Isla de Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. It is a small island that takes about 30 minutes to reach by boat from Cancun. I’m assuming that cost is no problem because I would fly all the guests into Cancun and then shuttle them over to the island and then bus them to the resort. They would all have rooms at the resort. I would rent out the entire resort (it isn’t too large) for the party.
I would invite S’s father, her sister and nephew, her sister’s boyfriend, S’s husband and daughters, of course. I would also invite all her colleagues from work. I would invite her closest friends both here in San Antonio and back in Albany and her friends from her “Marine” days. Maybe her aunts and uncles from Albany and Utica could come, too. And her cousins from Albany and Utica/Rome whom she hasn’t seen in a while. There would probably be about 75 people.
For food, I would like them to fly in Maine lobster and Gulf shrimp. S loves lobster. So we would have lobster for her. There would be plenty of margaritas for all and certainly baked potatoes, which she also loves. Also salads. And cheese cake for dessert with raspberries. There would be a band with dancing for the entertainment of S and her guests. And everyone could use the pool and the hot tub.
I would hope that S would like this celebration of her life with all her friends and family around her at a place she loves. I make this celebration out of love for her. She is the most important person in my life.
