Daily Prompt–Fright Night

Do you like being scared by books, films, and surprises? Describe the sensation of being scared, and why you love it — or don’t.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us FRIGHTENING.

This post is going to be short and sweet. I do not like being scared by books, films, and surprises.

ScaryI do not like the sensation of being scared. My heart races and tears stream down my face. I hate it. It is the worst feeling in the world. My bowels turn to liquid. I start to shake. It is a horrible feeling.

There are enough scary things in the world without seeking out things in the realm of entertainment to be scared by.  I don’t need to be scared by books or films. I have enough scary things in my life like the IRS. That is pretty scary. Just driving is scary. I don’t need Jason or Chucky or the Texas chainsaw murderer. I have enough scary in my life.

I hate the feeling of scary movies and books. i can’t sleep for weeks and even when I’m awake, I can’t shake the nervous feeling. I can do without these feelings. I like feeling calm and serene. Give me a romantic comedy any day. Leave me out of the scary films and books. I’m too chicken. I couldn’t even put a really scary picture on this post. I just hate them. Blah.

About mairedubhtx

I am a "youngish" grandmother of 15 year old twin granddaughter who has recently (is a year "recent"?) adopted Islam as my way of life, much to the consternation of my family. I love to read. I love to write. I am writing a book about my decision to revert, about my spiritual journey. I have another blog about stories from my youth, my parents, and grandparents. It's a blog so my OCD daughter will not be able to throw it out when I die. I suffer from depression and anxiety, for which I am treated, so my posts may be a bit dark at times. C'est la vie.

  1. I’m not a scary film person either! (And worry about those who consume large numbers of them – the films used to suggest horror and let your imagination fill in – now films show everything. Shiver! Can’t and won’t do it!)
